App name ideas
Generated app names with the domains that were open when we checked, plus the app store uniqueness and icon-truncation constraints that no other kind of name has.
An app name has a constraint no other name has: it is displayed under an icon on a home screen, truncated to roughly a dozen characters, on a device the user is holding. A name that reads well on a landing page and becomes an ellipsis under the icon has failed at the only place it appears every day.
The stores add their own rules. App names must be unique within each store, and both major stores restrict how long the displayed name can be and what you may put in it, so a name that is free everywhere else can still be refused at submission. Check availability in both stores before writing any code around the brand.
Software is class 9 in the USPTO register and hosted services are class 42, and consumer app names collide constantly because the short, friendly, two-syllable space is exactly where everyone is looking.
The names below were generated by BetterNamer for the description above and checked for domain availability on the date shown. Type each shortlisted name under an icon before you decide.

Scores are BetterNamer's 0 to 10 rating. Domain availability is as of 22 Aug 2026 and can change at any moment; run a name to check it live, and to screen it against trademark records and the web.

Questions about naming a app
How long can an app name be?
Shorter than you think. Both major stores cap the display name, and the home screen truncates further, so the practical target is about twelve characters or fewer. Test the name under a real icon on a real device rather than in a design file.
Is the app store name the same as the trademark?
No. The stores enforce uniqueness within their own catalogue, which is a queue, not a right. A trademark in class 9 and class 42 is what stops another developer from using a confusingly similar name, and the store will act on a valid infringement claim from a mark holder.
Do I need the .com if the app lives in the stores?
You need somewhere for the press, the support link and the store listing's website field to point. The .app extension reads naturally and requires HTTPS by design. Hold the .com if it is open, because people search the app name in a browser as often as in a store.
